Lost Springs

The name Lost Springs is based on a story of railroad workers who could not find the springs shown on survey maps of the area.
The place was first inhabited in the 1880s.

The town was incorporated in 1911, and it had originally had 200 residents.

Most of them worked at the nearby Rosin coal mine.

After the coal mine shut down in 1930, the population of Lost Springs steadily declined Today it is around 4.

The funny part is the sign it says: Population 1
