American Gothic House

Grant Wood was driving through a small town in Iowa in 1930. He saw the perfect house for a painting he’d been wanting to do for a long time.

He took a sketch of the house, went home to Cedar Rapids, and painted “American Gothic.
The painting becomes famous.

The house is visited by thousands of people every year and still stands today.

American Gothic House

You can take pictures outside the house using the fork and “dressing” from the painting. There is also a small museum.
