Munger Moss Motel

Since 1971, the hotel belongs to Ramona and Bob Lehman. Originally the Munger Moss was a BBQ on the Big Piney River at Devil’s Elbow. It started in the late 1930s and early 1940s, a pair called Munger introduced the sandwich shop. When Mr. Munger passed away, his widow married Emmett Moss.

Since then the sandwich shop was called “Munger Moss”.Sometime in the 60s, the Hudson family took over the diner. It was well known, but when the 4-lane Hwy arrived, the shop was cut off from traffic. The Hudsons soon found a new place for their shop. They bought a piece of land in Lebanon, where they opened the “Munger Moss BBQ”.

Opposite of the BBQ were 4 cabins called “Green Gables” and next door a small motel called “Rock Court”. The Hudsons bought both plots of land and opened a hotel there in 1945. In 1946 the Munger Moss Hotel was opened. Today the motel is owned by Ramona Lehman. Bob Lehman died at the age of 81 in 2019.
