Gold Hill - Ghost Town
Gold Hill was the center of a mining district that was active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, producing gold, copper, arsenic, silver, lead and tungsten.
In 1858 gold was first discovered, in 1892 a smelter was built, settlers came into town. Gold Hill began to grow famous in the mining industry.
After the gold mine were worked out, they produced arsenic
for World War I
A United States post office operated at Gold Hill from 1911 to 1949
The village is currently a ghost town with many structures still intact and available to explore. Some people are still living in Gold Hill today.
