Carhenge - Alliance

Carhenge is a replica of England’s Stonehenge with cars instead of stones.
It is located near the city of Alliance.
Carhenge is formed from 38 vintage American automobiles, all sprayed with gray paint, arranged in a circle.

Jim Reinders built the art project which was dedicated to his father. He was studying the original Stonehenge in England and after his father died in 1982 he built Carhenge. It was built 1987 on the old farmland of his family – with help from 35 members of the Reinders family.
