Truckhenge (Lessman Farm)
Ron Lessman began creating Truckhenge in May 2000 by using antique trucks and a bus he collected over the years.
After a legal battle with Shawnee County, Kansas, a judge ordered Mr. Lessman to “pick up the trucks”.
So, he picked them up. But the Lessman way: Ron anchored each truck into the ground with 23 tons of concrete.
Along with the trucks, there is a “Beer-Bottle City”. Old Bottles create to an art project.
On July 5, 2006, Truckhenge was officially dedicated as part of the Kaw Region Art Park.
In July 2007, Ron Lessman began adding a second project with small boats to Boothenge.
On the big property of Ron on which he is showing you around on a private tour, you will find a lot of sculptures of trash and some wood art.
In the big hall Ron does paintings as well.
It is a real adventure to meet Ron in person.
To see Truckhenge and the Lessman Farm you have to make an appointment with Ron Lessman. He shows you around with a private tour.
