Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a city in San Miguel County. Las Vegas as 14,565 inhabitants and covers an area of 19.5 km². The city is on the Gallinas River. Las Vegas is also home to the New Mexico Highlands University and the West Las Vegas High School. “Las Vegas” means: “the floodplains”; the full Spanish name of the city, namely: “Nuestra Señora de los Dolores de Las Vegas Grandes”.
The historic Route 66 goes through the historic town. You can find a lot of nice small motels along Route 66.
Two of the most unique historic hotels are located in Las Vegas. The Plaza Hotel in historic downtown and The Castaneda at the train station.
