Roy's Café and Motel on Route 66

Roy, the owner of the eponymous café opened in 1938 a gas station with repair shop.

The traffic on this part of Route 66 was strong, so this business was profitable.

A motel and a café were opened next to the gas station, to take travelers in for the night.

When the interstate 40 was built in 1972, Roy had to close everything.

About 15 years ago, the café reopened as a Route 66 tourist attraction. This part of Route 66 became more and more busy.

Today you can take a cool drink in the café and refuel your car at Roy’s.

The new owners are trying to reopen the motel.
