Highway 50 - Nevada

About 380 miles through Nevada – the stretch of Highway 50 is called the “Loneliest Highway in America”.
From Lake Thao to Baker the highway crosses several large desert valleys (Great Basin) separated by numerous mountain ranges towering over the valley floors.

The route was first constructed over a historic corridor, initially used for the Pony Express and Central Overland Route and later for the Lincoln Highway.
At the beginning of Hwy 50 there are some cities like Carson City and Fallon, then the highway gets lonely.

Eureka and Ely are two bigger cities with a lot of history and worth a stop.
Along the whole 50 are small mining towns and ghost towns to find. Like Grabby, Berlin, Ruby Hill Mine, Belmont Mine, Hamilton and Ruth.
