Shoe Tree Middlegate
The story behind the Shoe Tree:
In a warm summer night a newly married couple went camping in the Nevada desert. Under a large cottonwood tree, they got into an argument.
After a long endless discussion the woman, bad tempered, threatened to walk away.
The man said:” If you go now, you have to walk barefoot.” Then he throwed all of her shoes into the high tree.
He drove off to a nearby bar to cool down. There he told the story to the bartender, the bartender convinced him to go back.
So, he returned to the tree, his wife was still there. They reconciled and they lived happily ever after.
Several years they returned with their first child to throw his shoes up into the tree, for good luck. The rest is history.
The original shoe tree was turned down by vandals in 2010.
Since 2017 there is a new tree nearby already adorned with many, many old shoes.
In my opinion the Shoe Tree is a big waste place.
