Mission Concepción - San Antonio

In 1716 Franciscan Friars foundes the Mission, Originally called Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña in Texas.

The mission was established for converting the Hasinai (Native American) to Catholicism and teaching them what they needed to know to become Spanish citizens.

in 1731 the Mission was moved to San Antonio. Catholic Mass is still held every Sunday.

Mission Concepción is the oldest unrestored stone church in America.

Mission Concepción and the four other missions in the San Antonio were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 5, 2015.

it was named a National Historic Landmark on April 15, 1970 and is part of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
