Mission San Juan Capistrano - San Antonio

The original name in 1716 was La Misión San José de los Nazonis, the mission was firts located in East Texas. It was founded in 1731 by Spanish Catholics of the Franciscan Order, on the eastern banks of the San Antonio River.

This Mission looks different from the other missions in the area and site is much smaller then the others.

Mission San Juan Capistrano and the four other missions in the San Antonio were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 5, 2015.

it was named a National Historic Landmark on April 15, 1970 and is part of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
